Spring 2 2022

Maths

In maths this half term we have been focussing on fraction. Identifying fractions of shapes, improper fractions and beginning to add fractions with the same denominators.

We had huge success in the Sumdog competition with Rundell finishing in 5th and Hardy coming in 7th. Come on Pullman class we want to see you in the top 10 next time!

A huge well done to everyone who took part.

We have started to really focus on our timetable practice with daily practice in class, please support where you can at home.

Monarchs Day

As part of our ACE curriculum year 4 enjoyed a monarch’s day at the end of term. It was brilliant to see the effort that had gone into costumes and children enjoyed art, design and PE activities throughout the day.

Big well done to Freddie, Lilly and Rylee who won the competition for best costume!

English

In English we have been working hard to create biographies about Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria. This involved lots of research to find out about their lives and built on the knowledge we had already gained through our History topic. We have displayed some of Year 4’s super writing in the corridors.

We have also been exploring planet earth and looking into volcanoes and earthquakes. Conducting our own research we found out lots of interesting facts which allowed us to write a non-chronological report and create a volcano warning system in Design and Technology.

Mount Cook!

A good time was had by all! The children enjoyed lots of different activities from the zip wire to an archaeological dig. They represented the school fantastically and the staff at Mount Cook commented on how well-mannered and polite all the children were. They really did us proud!
